"Crises are inevitable, and one step of managing any difficult
situation is handling the media. David Cascioli, an industry
consultant from Access Leisure Management, has a background in
crisis management and says it’s crucial for the resident PR manager
to address the media “to show confidence in yourself and what you’re
saying.”
Additionally, Susan Storey, public relations manager at Kings
Dominion, says it’s important to keep in mind that “almost as soon
as something happens, the media can find out.” For example, she
recalls receiving a reporter’s call within minutes of finding out
